Happy Birthday Stella!

I know it's a week away, but I wanted to share Stella's one year pics. I love them and I think they capture her personality so well.

She's Here!

Well she's finally here! We are so excited and shocked that we finally have our sweet little girl home and our family is complete!

We appreciate all the friends and family that came to visit us during our hospital stay.

I cannot tell you how much that last visit from my mom and sisters helped me. I was on my last leg of energy and they helped me laugh through it and somehow I got a popsicle while they were there too!
Mom tickled my back and put a cold wash cloth on my neck giving Jeff a well deserved break.

Unfortunately for Jeff it wasn't long before I had a bit of a set back. I started feeling overwhelmed and discouraged that it just wasn't going to happen!

Then within the hour I was pushing out a baby and the next few days were a whirl wind.

The hospital staff at St. Marks is amazing. My doctor was great and little Stella unfortunately came out with the umbilical cord around her neck. Doc had to cut it to get her out fast so Jeff didn't get the opportunity, but he was okay with it because he just wanted baby Stella to be ok.

Stella came out very pale due to the lack of oxygen and they whisked her away to the nursery to get her taken care of. This also included an additional day stay at the hospital to monitor her and make sure everything was okay.

All in all it was a very good experience and we feel so blessed to have such a beautiful healthy baby. Thanks to everyone for you well wishes and support! We love you.

Happy 1/2 Birthday Stella!

Stella turned 6 months today! I took some pictures, but I have to finish editing the rest of them. I can't believe how fast she is growing up. We love her so much! She has Daddy wrapped around her finger.

She enjoys watching movies with us.
She LOVES Tangled and she loves car chase scenes.
She has tried both apples and sweet potatoes and seems to enjoy 'real' food.
She has rolled over exactly 3 times! I think they were all on accident though.
She is still a very happy baby, all smiles and laughs.
She usually goes to bed between 8-9pm and will sleep until about 7:30am.
She puts EVERYTHING in her mouth and I mean everything! Even Mommy's hair!??
She LOVES Nibbler and Rowdy. She always tries to pet them when they walk by and I think they like her now too!

Thanks to Jenn for buying this cute little outfit for her, it has matching leg warmers, but Stella kept kicking them off!

A Day of Firsts

Today was a day of firsts. Earlier in the morning Stella was having tummy time and successfully rolled over from her tummy to her back. Later that afternoon we were in the loft and Stella really loves the dogs! So I held her hands to help keep her balance and she started taking steps! She walked across the room to get to the dogs. Another first. Being the wonderful mother that I am I had Stella on my lap and we were in Jeff's office. She was trying to grab the desk and playing, but when I wasn't paying attention she bent her head forward and bonked her head! The cry was a new cry that we hadn't heard before and it made us so sad. She had a red mark on the bridge of her nose! So today was a day of many firsts, but I love to have her play with the dogs. They make her so happy! That's how I finally got her to relax while on her stomach, by distracting her with the dogs.

We love food

So Jeff and I share two loves. movies and food. We decided we would like to start a tradition of trying a new recipe every sunday. First was chicken cordon bleu last sunday's was another recipe I found on Pinterest.

and here's our result! I loved it, but we don't like bleu cheese so we substituted with feta. I think we'll also go lighter on the spinach next time and maybe add some mushrooms.

Pinterest

The other day Jeff and I were browsing the humor section on Pinterest. I got into that habit as I needed something to do late at night while up with Stella and there are some really funny things on there. Like this little gem:

Also on that section was a hilarious display of pinterest attempts gone wrong. It had a lot of pictures, but here's an example:
I thought it was hilarious because I saw a recipe for chicken cordon bleu, one of Jeff's favorite meals. And I decided to try it.
Click Here for the recipe:
It actually turned out pretty good, but it was so hard. The first part with the butter you have to cook it just right or it becomes lumpy and you have lumps that taste like salt! Here's how ours turned out!
So far this is the only thing I have tried on Pinterest. I think I'll try to keep things simple, but I might try more recipes and see if I can pull them off and not bomb it!
